Frequently Asked Questions

Why Dance Ballroom

Some of us fell in love with the music and some with the elegance. Or maybe we are just nostalgic. But ballroom is also a great way to stay fit while learning a new skill and having fun. Depending on the speed of the music, it can be a light to an intense workout. And it builds balance and coordination.

How can you learn the dances? There will be some lessons on Wednesdays. There may also be online training sessions once in a while, because ballroom teachers are somewhat scarce in Bangalore.

Difficulty Level

Ballroom dance patterns a bit more elaborate than club dancing but way simpler than Indian classical. Formal ballroom dancing has three levels - usually called bronze, silver and gold. The typical learning time for a level is usually around 6 months.

Partner Etiquette

You don't have to bring a partner with you to a practice session or a dance. At a social it is acceptable to invite anyone present on the floor to dance. When someone requests a dance, it is perfectly fine to accept or decline the request.

Equipment

The studio has wooden flooring which can get scuffed by street shoes. So dancers are requested to remove street shoes when entering the space. Dancers may choose to dance in socks or in leather-soled dancing shoes as they prefer.
